If you are interested in becoming a landlord, we encourage you to list your unit with http://bmtha.gosection8.com/ListYourProperty.aspx . This service provides an enhanced program to list rental properties on line. Listings are available to potential tenants seeking apartment units, duplexes, single-family homes or town homes in the private market. Properties placed on goSection8.com will also be automatically added to over 15 additional rental websites, expanding the base of potential customers!
If you have any questions regarding registering, creating or viewing property listings, please contact the GoSection8 toll free help line at 1-866-466-7328.
BHA screens voucher holders for program eligibility only. As in the private market, the owner is responsible for screening applicants for suitability as tenants. Landlords are limited only by fair housing requirements and the prohibition of discrimination as established by federal and state law.
The lease is between the landlord and the family. You will use your own lease, or you can use the lease provided through the Texas Apartment Association.
While you do not require BHA’s permission, if a tenant violates the lease, you should notify the tenant’s caseworker prior to commencing with the eviction process.
