I have checked my status on the waiting list, and my place on the list is lower than before – why?
BHA offers a waiting list preference to veterans. When a veteran applies, his/her application moves to the front of the line, which drops everyone else down. For this reason, you will see fluctuations in your waiting list position.
I filled out a Public Housing application; please use that for the Section 8 waiting list.
There are separate applications for each program – you must complete the proper application in order to get placed on the waiting list. When the Section 8 waiting list is open, we encourage interested applicants to apply at that time.
I applied this morning for housing. I went to check my place on the list and it says it cannot find my application!
Please be patient. All applications taken on the website must be downloaded into our Master Waiting List. This process could take up to 5 days. You will receive an email telling you that your application has been accepted. If after 5 days you do not see your name and ranking on the waiting list, please contact us at 409-951-7200.
I am homeless, do you offer immediate housing?
Unfortunately, BHA does not offer emergency housing, nor can we make an exception to the waiting list process due to an applicant’s situation.
I keep calling, but I get a voicemail or a busy signal, how can I reach you?
We get a huge volume of calls each day, and unfortunately we can’t always get each one. Please leave a voicemail, and we will return it as soon as we can. Another option is to submit an email using the Contact Us form on our website at www.bmtha.org. If you’re calling to check your status on the waiting list, call our automated line at 409-951-7280.
I didn’t check my mail and missed my orientation date, can I reschedule?
We cannot stress this enough – if you are on one of BHA’s waiting lists, please regularly check your mail and the email address that you provided in your application. If you miss your scheduled orientation, you could be dropped from the waiting list and have to reapply. Please contact us at 409-951-7200 immediately to see if you can reschedule or have if you have been dropped off of the waiting list.
I cannot come to the orientation due to my work/school schedule, can I reschedule?
Please contact us prior to your scheduled orientation and we will work with you to schedule you in.
