THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT HEREBY SOLICITS PUBLIC COMMENT ON ITS PROPOSED APPLICATIONS FOR DISASTER RECOVERY REALLOCATION PROGRAM (DRRP) FUNDS FROM THE TEXAS GENERAL LAND OFFICE
The Housing Authority of the City of Beaumont (BHA) is preparing two applications to the Texas General Land Office for Disaster Recovery Reallocation Program (DRRP) funds. The public is invited to submit written comments on the activities planned in these applications. The comment period begins March 7, 2025. The deadline for submission of written comments is noon CST on March 21, 2025. A summary of the applications are available on the BHA web site at www.bmtha.org. BHA tenants may pick up a copy of the summary in their management office.
BHA is preparing two applications for funding:
- $7 million dollars to fund the rehabilitation of Regent I apartments, located at 1715 Maime St, Beaumont, Texas 77701
- $7 million dollars to fund the rehabilitation of Pointe North apartments, located at 3710 Magnolia Ave, Beaumont, Texas 77701
Written comments should be addressed to Allison Landrum, CEO, and must be received via email at landrumal@bmtha.org or at BHA’s Central Office, 1890 Laurel, Beaumont, TX 77701, no later than noon CST on March 21, 2025. All written comments will be carefully reviewed and considered for incorporation into the final grant applications.

- Regent I is a 160-unit property built in 2008 with Low Income Housing Tax Credits and HOPE VI Revitalization grant dollars. The property is aging and needs substantial rehabilitation.
- BHA is applying for $7 million dollars from the Texas General Land Office through the Disaster Recovery Reallocation Program. BHA will match the grant with an additional $1 million from it’s own funds.
- Planned activities include:
- Remove and Replace Wood Trim, Gutters, Downspouts, Fascia and Roofs.
- Remove and Replace Existing Siding, and Paint Brick.
- Remove and Replace Existing Wall Pack Lighting in Breezeways.
- Remove and Replace Exterior Unit Doors.
- Remove and Replace Windows.
- Repair the Stairs in the Breezeways.
- Improve Landscaping by Removing Existing Dead Trees and Bushes and Replacing With More Resilient Landscaping.
