BEAUMONT – The Beaumont Housing Authority was one of only six housing authorities in the state of Texas to be awarded a 2013 Resident Opportunities for Self Sufficiency (ROSS) grant. BHA’s application was funded for $171,000, and will allow BHA to continue their very successful program for another three years.
The ROSS program helps public housing residents find jobs and achieve economic and housing independence. Service Coordinators work directly with residents to assess their needs and connect them with education, job training and placement programs, and/or computer and financial literacy services available in their community to promote self-sufficiency.
“These service coordinators will help thousands of public housing residents improve their quality of life by connecting them to jobs and opportunities that lead to self-sufficiency,” said HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan.
