New Senior Living Community Begins Accepting Applications

Property will feature great amenities, affordable rents

BEAUMONT, TX – Only six months after construction began, crews are quickly nearing completion of The Crossing, a 150 unit senior living community for seniors aged 55 and older located at 3795 East Lucas.  The property will begin accepting pre-applications online on April 16 at www.thecrossingbeaumont.com   The first seniors are expected to move into the facility in June 2012.

The Crossing will feature great amenities, including a beauty salon, a ceramics studio, a computer lab, a billiards room, a fitness center, and a grand room that will serve as a space for community activities.  The property will also feature a private examination room for visiting medical service providers and offices for community and social service providers.  The new construction, expected to cost $16.3 million dollars, will consist of simulated stone and stucco design and each apartment will have its own private balcony or patio with French doors.

“As more and more baby boomers move towards retirement, the demand for communities such as The Crossing are in great demand,” said Beaumont Housing Authority Executive Director Robert L. Reyna.  “The combination of great amenities, close proximity to pharmacies and stores and affordable rents makes this a very attractive option for seniors looking for a place to live in their retirement years.”

In anticipation of the property’s opening, the City of Beaumont has committed to upgrading the infrastructure on East Lucas Drive, including repaving sidewalks between Concord and Helbig and inserting a crosswalk for residents to cross the busy street.  These improvements will allow seniors easy access to Walgreens, HEB and the Elmo Willard Public Library.

Interested applicants must be 55 years or older, and must have an annual income of no more than $24,180 for singles or $27,600 for couples.   For more information, visit www.thecrossingbeaumont.com or call 409-892-5483.
